It was such a delight to get up for the sunrise to photograph my good friends Chuck and Rachel this past month for a maternity session. Rachel is due in January and they are the sweetest (and at times silliest) couple to be around. I met Chuck at Penn State where he was a year below me in the landscape architecture program and then Rachel, who was one year below him, when we all moved to Baltimore back in 2008/2009. By chance, we ended up living less than a block from each other and spent many nights playing games and drinking wine together. I remember spending countless hours making paper poofs for their wedding and listening to Chuck play the guitar. We even contorted ourselves into positions we could never manage now to paint the kitchen (me on top of the fridge) back at their old rental! With that history, it was even more a delight to see them entering the next stage of their lives with a little one on the way. They spend a great deal of time in the outdoors with their dogs, Kona and Liko, so we went to nearby Patterson Park to get some early morning photos of them together. I couldn’t help but tear up a bit both during the session and later doing the editing! We can’t wait to meet McBabyPea.
